The World in 100 Years

I was recently asked to address a remarkable conference hosted by the Champalimaud Foundation Centre for the Unknown in Portugal, where the theme was the question: What will the world be like in 100 years’ time? The conference included several Nobel laureates and was led by former President Cardoso of Brazil. These are my remarks. They were entitled, “The Human Question One Hundred Years Off.”
My thanks to the organizers of this very special event, and in particular Leonore Beleza and President Cardoso. The invitation from President Cardoso included a beguiling reference to the fact that a child born today may well be alive in one hundred years’ time...
