Katrina Sifferd

Katrina Sifferd is a Visiting Faculty and Co-Director of the Pre-Law Program at Elmhurst College, located in Elmhurst, Illinois. Previously, she was the Rockefeller Fellow in Law and Public Policy and Visiting Professor in philosophy at Dartmouth College. Her research examines the intersection of science and public policy, especially criminal justice policy. Prior to earning her Ph.D., she worked as a senior research analyst on projects for the National Institute of Justice.

She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy and a master's degree in philosophy of psychology from the University of London. She also holds a J.D. from DePaul University, and a B.A. in psychology from Valparaiso University.

She is the author of various articles and book chapters, including "In Defense of the Use of Commonsense Psychology in the Criminal Law," in the journal Law and Philosophy 25: 571-612 (2006), and "Commonsense Concepts of Justice and the Ethics of Nanotechnology", for The Social Scale, a book resulting from Northwestern University's Institute for Nanotechnology 2006 Symposium.
